SAFETY TIPS FOR REALTORS

1. Make sure your phone is fully charged before meeting clients or a showing.
   
2. Always walk behind a prospect when showing a home.
   
3. Create a distress code to use with colleagues and family.
   
4. Take a colleague with you to show a vacant home or to show a prospect you do not know.
   
5. Keep phone calls and texts to a minimum while with a prospect.
   
6. Park your car in front of the property you are showing rather than in the driveway so you don’t get blocked in.
   
7. Bring new clients to your office to let your colleagues see who you are with.
   
8. Get a photocopy of a prospects identification and send it a colleague or the office.
   
9. Refrain from posting photos on social media wearing expensive jewelry or furs or displaying expensive artwork or vehicles.
   
10. Pay attention to anyone hanging around after a showing and do not allow individuals who show up after a showing into the home.
    
11. Avoid showing a home after dusk.
    
12. Consider using a mobile app that provides information about an unknown prospect. 
    
13. Consider using a mobile app that shares your location information and can be used to send an emergency signal or call. 
    
14. Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
    
15. Above all else, trust your instincts!
